Biography:

Dan Melzer is the Associate Director of First-Year Composition. His research interests include writing across the curriculum, writing program administration, and response and assessment. His articles have appeared in College Composition and Communication, Writing Program Administration, Kairos, The WAC Journal, and other publications. He books include Reconstructing Response to Student Writing, Assignments Across the Curriculum, and Sustainable WAC: A Whole Systems Approach to Launching and Developing WAC Programs (coauthored with Michelle Cox and Jeffrey Galin). He is coauthor with John Bean of the third edition of Engaging Ideas: The Professor's Guide to Integrating Writing, Critical Thinking, and Active Learning in the Classroom.

Awards:

2021 Association for Writing Across the Curriculum/WAC Clearinghouse Best Authored Book Award for Sustainable WAC: A Whole Systems Approach to Launching and Developing Writing Across the Curriculum Programs

Association for Writing Across the Curriculum Distinguished Fellow Award, 2021. Given to scholars who have made a significant contribution to the field of Writing Across the Curriculum in a career that spans at least ten years.
