Biography:
Cassie Hemstrom is a Lecturer in the University Writing Program at UC Davis. She teaches a variety of lower and upper division composition courses including Expository Writing, Writing for Business and Writing in the Health Sciences. She earned her Doctorate in Literature at the University of Nevada, Reno. She also holds a Master's in Literature from Boise State University and a Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College, Santa Fe. Cassie's interdisciplinary research focuses on intersections of composition pedagogy, identity theory, and information literacy.
Cassie is also the Professional Writing Minor Internship Coordinator and helps students pursuing the minor find and complete internships that will prepare them to do the types of professional writing, researching, editing, and digital composition that they will encounter in their careers.
When not working, Cassie volunteers with the Yolo County SPCA, helping to train and socialize cats and dogs, creating social media promotional materials, doing grant writing and outreach, and assisting at adoption or promotional events.

Bachelor of Arts - St. John's College, Santa Fe. Emphasis: History of the Philosophy of Science, with minors in classical literature and languages.
Master of Arts, Literature - Boise State University. Emphasis on genre studies, identity theory, and contemporary American literature.
PhD, Literature - University of Nevada, Reno. Emphasis on contemporary American literature by ethnic American minority authors, identity theory, and critical race theory.
