Biography: 

 

Amara has served in many positions across UC Davis, including:

Associate Editor, Writing on the Edge (WOE): Worked with authors and editorial board to edit interdisciplinary articles on writing, teaching, and the teaching of writing. Redesigned website, established new student internship program, and created communication campaigns and marketing plans.

Assistant Editor, Prized Writing: Worked with authors, publishers, and the board of editors to edit academic articles and produce the 2019–2020 and 2020–2021 editions of Prized Writing.

Editor, Campus Recreation | Living Well: Produced and edited employee resource documents, including the 2020–2021 Living Well Employee Handbook.

UWP Peer Advisor: Advised students on requirements for the minor, understanding internship requirements, and locating internships. Promoted the minor and maintained the Writing Internship Guide.

Editor, Open Ceilings Magazine: Worked with authors to edit all forms of creative literary work. Helped design training for new editors and assisted founder in drafting and editing organization statements.

ELW Peer Educator: Tutored ELW and ESL writing students to improve their overall writing ability. Specialized in Entry Level Requirement courses: UWP 7, 7M, 21, 22, 1A, ENL3A, and Workload 57 as well as the language-intensive writing courses UWP 21 and UWP 22.

Aggie Orientation Leader: Provided mentorship to new students in their academic and social transition to UC Davis as part of the 2020 New Student Aggie Orientation

Aggie Success Assistant: Welcomed nearly 10,000 Aggies and worked directly with a professor to help answer questions and moderate chats during virtual synchronous seminar as part of 2020 New Student Aggie Orientation

 

In 2021, Amara was hired as the Administrative and Editorial Coordinator for Harvard Data Science Review at Harvard University.
