We know how busy graduate life can be. Meeting with a peer writing consultant can help graduate and professional students develop a sustainable writing practice and provide accountability for writing goals. The UC Davis Writing Center, located on the 4th floor of the Teaching and Learning Complex 470 Hutchison Dr., provides current graduate and professional students with:
- One-on-one consulting
- Workshops and seminars
- Dissertation writing retreats
- Academic writing groups
- Group and individual study space
- Writing partnerships (recurring appointments with the same consultant)
Graduate writers, like all writers, can benefit from individualized, one-on-one consultations with trained peer writing consultants who can provide feedback on seminar papers, personal statements, grants and fellowship applications, professional documents, thesis and dissertation writing, publishable papers, research posters and oral presentations.
Graduate and professional students (including in the health professions and law school) can also benefit from discussions about graduate school writing expectations, which require understanding and engaging more deeply with expectations in your field, discipline and future profession. Peer writing consultants help writers develop strategies to recognize and navigate these disciplinary writing expectations. Whether you believe you are a good writer or not, confident or not, have a lot of writing experience or not, the Writing Center offers support for all to work on writing projects, large or small.
