Originally trained as a poet and interpreter of poetry, Andy Jones has taught classes at UC Davis on TS Eliot, Poetry of the Beat Generation, and Close Reading of Poetry, as well as the Advanced Poetry Workshop. He especially loves the challenges and triumphs of teaching writing classes, and counts among his favorites "English for Educators: Advanced Writing for Future Teachers" (also known as ENL 104D), which he has taught every summer for almost a decade. Currently Andy coordinates the University Writing Programıs Computer-Aided Instruction Program; in this capacity he holds workshops, consults with faculty on instructional technology projects and practices, maintains the CAI web site, and generally supports the two-thirds of our upper division writing classes that are held in computer classrooms. Committed to outreach and encouraging cross-disciplinary thinking, Andy also advises The Voice, the campus Undergraduate Health Journal; regularly speaks before groups of students assembled by Student Advising, the McNair Scholars Program, Professors for the Future, and the UCD Medical Schoolıs Post-Baccalaureate Program; and hosts "Dr. Andy's Poetry and Technology Hour" on radio station KDVS. Andy lives in Davis with his wife, Kate, and their children, Geneva and Jackson.
